Kiln Dried Logs

The process

Kiln Drying

With over 30 years experience in the firewood and logging business, Mike has been actively involved in working with kiln manufacturers to ensure that the wood that he supplies not only has the right moisture content but also, most importantly, that the process does not remove the hydrocarbons stored in the wood that provides the heat when it is burned.

The custom kilns that he has helped to develop incorporate automatic feedback systems to regulate the temperature and air flow within the kiln, maintaining optimal drying conditions in order to ensure that the logs that are supplied to you are in perfect condition.

Carbon Neutral Process

Drying fans and the heating elements all require energy but with solar panels and an efficient biomass boiler, powered by waste wood and tree surgery residue that would otherwise go to landfill, the whole kiln drying process is carbon neutral.
